From entertaining shoppers in local shopping centres to treading the boards of Manchester's greatest theatres, Do Your Thing have certainly done their thing in style the past six years. From Stockport's debut performance singing live on BBC Radio Manchester to making history by Do Your Thing becoming the first ever act to perform at the newly refurbished Stockport Plaza, DYT have had great fun performing in a variety of "gigs".
From singing at "The MACC" at The Royal Northern College of Music to critical acclaim, performing twice at The Plaza Theatre with Brit award winning male voice trio, Blake as well as singing alongside X-Factor finalists "G4" at two different concerts in the North West. In November DYT were part of "Stars for Tonight 2015" at The Palace Theatre, Manchester, a NW Productions show to raise money for Francis House Hospice, and Do Your Thing Choir were delighted to perform the following year.
They regularly perform for The Christie and were honoured to be part of The Christie's First Ever Variety show hosted by Key 103s Chelsea Norris who described the choir as "Mega, really talented and really entertaining!"
As well as supporting The Christie and Francis House, DYT have helped fund raise for charities such as "Willow Wood Hospice", "Fair Trade" and "BBC Children in Need" to name a few.
Members of the Stockport branch are regular performers at both The Heaton's Summer and Christmas Festivals and Staybridge members are also regular performers at Tameside's Christmas and Easter Markets.
Whilst each branch of the choir does perform separately to support local events, both choirs regularly come together when a large community choir is required. At this point, our record has been 90 performers on stage at one time. With the huge intake of new members this year, that number is looking likely to grow!
Whilst performing is not compulsory, most choir members do and once they've done it once, they are hooked! There is such a sense of achievement when all the hard work (although great fun) that is put in during rehearsals by each member and their friends in the choir, pays off in a fantastic sound and performance. Members describe this feeling "like no other" and it "stays with you for days afterwards!"
What makes this even more special is that Do Your Thing is a non-audition choir set up for anyone who loves to sing. You don't need to have had any experience or be able to read music. The only requirement is that you love singing and are free to make rehearsals.
So, if you are looking for a fun, jam packed evening with singing, vocal tuition and loads of fun, then register your interest and we'll be in touch soon.
