From its humble beginnings in 2013, Stockport's branch of Do Your Thing now boasts over 80 members! Stockport's debut at Sainsbury's in Cheadle saw the public queuing up to find out how to get involved in the new phenomenon! The Stockport choir have gone from strength to strength, and are now regular performers at local events including The Heaton’s Summer and Christmas festivals, DYT have literally performed in all weathers! From being nearly blown away, along with the gazebo they were standing under, in the Rex Factor at Heaton Mersey Park to getting rather wet at the recent Christmas Festival at Heaton Moor, they have braved the elements but this certainly doesn’t stop them all having a good time! As keen supporters of local causes, Do Your Thing are invited regularly to perform at local fund raising events. Their recent performance at “Stars for Tonight 2015” at The Palace Theatre, Manchester helped raise funds for “Francis House Children’s Hospice”, a local charity in Didsbury.

Another cause close to DYT’s heart is “The Christie” and the choir have performed at several fund raisers for this worthy charity. They have sung and danced in the streets in Manchester’s Piccadilly Gardens, performed at “The Mere” and were delighted to be part of The Christie’s first "Variety Show” at The Stockport Plaza hosted by Chelsea Norris, who described the choir as “Mega!…Really talented and really entertaining!”

Do Your Thing are now regular performers at The Plaza Theatre. For their debut back in 2013, the choir made history when they became the first ever act to perform on its brand new stage. In the past year alone, Do Your Thing have performed there with acts as diverse as Brit award winning male voice trio, Blake, to donning their wellies in their most recent venture, singing and dancing alongside well loved Irish comedian, Jimmy Cricket as part of his tour!

Stockport has had a real variety of performances throughout it’s three years and to mark their anniversary, local magazine “Moor Mag” asked members to share their experiences with its readers. Please click on this link to read more (opens in new window).
